Nachiappan goes against his wealthy, old-fashioned parents to marry Parvathi, who comes from a less affluent background. They raise their daughter Janani in a big family. Even though Nachiappan is quite controlling, he is tempted by a marriage proposal from Aadhi Gunasekaran, a wealthy businessman, for his brother Shakthivel. Nachiappan believes a lie that Janani will be made the managing director at Gunasekaran’s company. Janani, who is successful in her own right, eventually marries Shakthivel, the youngest brother in the Aadhimuthu family. However, she soon discovers the harsh reality of how her in-laws mistreat women. Shakthivel, dealing with his own childhood traumas, lacks the courage to stand up to his family. Despite warnings from her cousin Vasu, Janani goes ahead with the marriage. Initially supportive, Shakthivel turns against Janani due to manipulation from his older brother Aadhi Gunasekaran. Janani’s co-sisters, Eshwari, Renuka, and Nandhini, are educated women married to uneducated husbands in the Aadhimuthu family. They face restrictions and are forced to be housekeepers by their controlling husbands. The story unfolds as Janani tries to bring positive change with the help of Pattammal, Gunasekaran’s grandmother.

Opposing male chauvinism, Janani departs from the Aadhimuthu household after Shakthivel questions her character. Guided by Pattammal’s counsel, Janani returns to support her co-sisters in attaining independence. As Shakthivel acknowledges his errors, the narrative unfolds with Janani’s efforts to empower herself and her co-sisters amid familial and societal obstacles. Subsequently, Aathirai, Gunasekaran’s younger sister, is compelled to marry Karikalan when her love for Arun, SKR’s youngest brother and a business rival of Aadhimuthu, is exposed. Enduring mistreatment from Karikalan and his mother Jhansi Rani, Aathirai escapes, finding refuge in SKR and Charubala’s residence. Pattammal, holding a 40% stake in Aadhimuthu’s assets, contends with Gunasekaran for Janani and Gunasekaran’s entitlements. However, Gunasekaran perceives her as a threat to his empire and ultimately takes her life. The storyline revolves around Janani’s resilience as she empowers herself and liberates her co-sisters in the face of these formidable challenges.
