About her Life

Simran was born as RishiBala Naval on 4 April 1976 in Mumbai to Ashok Naval and Sharada. Her sister Monal, who was also an actress, committed suicide in 2002. She did her schooling at St. Anthony’s School, Andheri, Mumbai. She then graduated from Mumbai University with a Bachelor of Commerce. While studying for her B.Com, she also pursued modeling work alongside her training as a Bharatanatyam and Salsa dancer. Simran, who was at the peak of his career, left the film industry after marrying his childhood friend Deepak Bagga in 2003. The couple has two sons named Ahip and Aadith from their marriage.

Career

Simran made his film debut in 1995 with the film Sanam Harjai. Her biggest Bollywood movie is probably her A.B.C.L. She produced the multi-starrer Tere Mere Sapne. She plays the role of a businessman’s daughter in her movie. A taxi driver disguised as a rich boy played by Arshad Warsi falls in love with her. However, it was in the Tamil and Telugu film industries that she gained a lot of praise and popularity. She made her debut in Tamil with her film ‘Nerukku Ner’ (1997), but it was ‘VIP’ (1997) that made her famous in Tamil Nadu. Due to her success in her Telugu film Samar Singha Her Lady (1999), Simran became famous in the industry. The film, which starred Nandamuri Balkrishna in the lead role, was a violent revenge thriller. The film was not only a commercial success but also received positive reviews from Simran’s critics. She was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress. 

1999 was certainly a special year for Simran as another of her films made an impact. In Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999), she played a blind girl who regains her sight thanks to a singer named Kuti, played by Vijay. Due to her misunderstanding, Simran begins to hate Kati, but she realizes that it was Kati who was instrumental in getting her sight back. Simran again starred alongside Nandomri Balakrishnan in the film Narasimha Naidu (2001). Directed by B. Gopal, she played the wife of the titular Nandomri Balakrishnan. Narsimha Naidu was again a huge success and received praise from Simran for her performance. However, Simran’s most notable performance was in Mani Ratnam’s film Kannateer Muthamitar (2002). A sensitive examination of Sri Lanka’s Tamil War through the moving story of her adopted son’s search for his real mother.
