Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualifications

Category-I: Graduate Apprentices

A degree in Engineering or Technology (Regular – Full time) granted by a Statutory University or an Institution empowered by an Act of Parliament in a relevant discipline,

Category-II: Technician (Diploma) Apprentices

A full-time diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government or a University.

2. Age Limit

The age limit will be adhered to by the Apprenticeship Rules.

3. Reservation of Vacancies

Candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST/OBC/PwD must provide the necessary certificates in the government standard format. BC/MBC candidates claiming the OBC (Non-creamy layer) category should bring the OBC(NCL) certificate in the approved format from the certificate issuing authority.

4. Minimum Physical Standards

As outlined in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rule 1992, including any subsequent amendments.

5. Previous Training/Experience

Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973, and/or have one year or more experience are NOT eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure

The responsibility of creating a shortlist from the online applications falls to the Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR). This shortlist will be determined by the percentage of marks candidates achieved in the essential prescribed qualifications relevant to their respective fields. At TNMVMD, Chennai, candidates on the shortlist will receive notification via their registered email ID and must attend certificate verification.

How to Apply

(i) Registration and Submission of Application

Three categories of applicants exist for registration:

• Type ‘A’ comprises students currently registered on the old National Web Portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in) with existing login credentials.
• Type ‘B’ consists of students already registered on the new National Web Portal (www.nats.education.gov.in) with established login details.
• Type ‘C’ encompasses first-time enrollees on the National Web Portal.

(ii) Steps for Application

1. For Type ‘A’ and ‘B’ Applicants

Log in using your registered email ID and password at https://nats.education.gov.in to apply. To generate a unique 12-digit enrollment number, fill out the application form. After that, log in with your new password and email ID.

• Navigate to “Apply against advertised vacancies,”
• Locate “TAMIL NADU MOTOR VEHICLES MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT,”
• Click apply to confirm your application status as “applied.”

2. For Type ‘C’ Applicants

To initiate your application, go to the Student Register section at https://nats.education.gov.in. Upon submission, you will be issued a unique 12-digit enrollment number. Log in using your email ID and password, then proceed to the “Apply against advertised vacancies” section. Locate and select “TAMIL NADU MOTOR VEHICLES MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT” to confirm that your application status displays as “applied.”

(iii) Important Notes
